Modular Swinging Upscale

Robert Caruso, owner of Big Sky Custom Homes in Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J., the exclusive New Jersey builder for Westchester Modular Homes of Wingdale, N.Y., says, “We’re getting away from the old-school way of sitting down with a catalog and picking a house. Whereas now we’re pretty much open to build almost anything you want.” Noting three percent of U. S. homes are modular, Edward Mathis, listing agent for an upscale modular Excel Homes home, says when he shows the home to prospects they think it is site-built. As MHLivingNews has learned, Saddle River is near the NJ-NY line just west of the Hudson River and has some very expensive houses.
