Manufactured housing is much like other professions in this respect. Surveys reveal that most manufactured homeowners are happy about their homes. If all someone listened to was complaints like the angry video reviews from Clayton Homes and 21st Mortgage customers posted below, they might miss the broader picture that most manufactured homeowners had a better experience than what these “Pissed Consumer” and other videos are describing.
Manufactured homeowners are often proud of what they have. But that only begs the question, why aren’t there more manufactured home sold? Clayton Homes and 21st Mortgage Corporation are periodically featured in Manufactured Home Living News in recent years to shed light on that question.
In reading this report, one must recall in fairness that complaints can occur for a variety of reasons. Some complaints are legitimate, while others may be exaggerated or are not fair. The consumer is often but not always right. So, we aren’t taking a position either way. Rather, this is sharing the comments of others. These are video comments ‘this year’ – and there are more.

“Clayton Homes Reviews – Being charged for a service that wasn’t used”
PissedConsumer reportedly gets some 3.5 million visits monthly on all manner of subjects. There are obviously consumers that make their own complaint videos about Clayton or are interviewed by mainstream news media, such as those shown below.
There are also company team members that are whistleblowers about alleged racist behavior by Clayton, Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance, and 21st Mortgage Corporation, as this mainstream news interview below makes clear.
When a consumer gets upset and doesn’t get the attention that they merit, they may understandably get madder – and then start nit-picking.
That said, MHLivingNews isn’t taking a position on these specific consumers or complaints. We have numerous videos and reports on our site of happy customers. These PissedConsumers are obviously not happy campers.
MHLivingNews has done a prior report on site-built customers who spent many times more the purchase price of a manufactured home that were as or more upset as these manufactured homeowners are. Clayton says that customer satisfaction is their top priority. If so, then these videos shed light on that claim. The video below is a ‘screen capture’ of an ABC News affiliate that is interviewing an angry Clayton Homes customer.
