Inside MH: a look at Manufactured Home Direct-to-Consumer Purchase, Refi and “Cash Out” Loans with Mountainside Financial’s Anthony Ducharme

The popularity, understanding and appreciation of manufactured homes is growing day by day, but a key topic we’re routinely asked about is financing. As a “specialty product,” often local lenders ‘just don’t know’ enough about manufactured homes and so they can be reluctant to lend on what what they don’t understand.

Thus the importance of specialty lenders in manufactured home financing.

To gain useful ‘insider insights,’ we caught up with Anthony Ducharme, Direct Channel Manager of Mountainside Financial, during the recent Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) Congress and Expo in Las Vegas for the video interview featured below.

We talked with Anthony about:

  • insights into their company,

  • how they work directly with consumers as well as business professionals,

  • how they can be used to buy a new or FSBO (for sale by owner) manufactured home,

  • how they work with Realtors ®, communities, manufactured home brokers and retailers directly,

plus much more in this video interview.

No interview covers every topic. In the Dodd-Frank era, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) regulations make some communications between sellers and buyers more complex. Mountainside Financial’s division of multi-billion dollar power house SACU has created systems that make a purchase, refinance and cash-out loans on a manufactured home easier and legally compliant for all involved.

Mountainside’s operation tells ManufacturedHomeLivingNews.com that they often save consumers money with lower rates, and have been doing direct to consumer lending for 14 years.

One of the unique off-camera insights we gained are the additional services a Mountainside customer may access beyond their manufactured home loan.

As a division of a large, federally insured not-for-profit credit union, customers who become “a member” may access and enjoy various added benefits, beyond the manufactured home loan. Once their manufactured home loan is closed, members are encouraged to check out other services available from San Antonio Credit Union (SACU), available in 40 states.
