The mainstream media sometimes misuses the term 'modular homes' by confusing it with 'manufactured homes.' Modular homes are built in a factory to a local building code and may or may not be on a frame. Manufactured homes are built to the federal HUD Code for manufactured housing, are built on a frame and will have a red HUD label on the 'tail end' of the home, as is shown on the photo on the story linked here.
